Relocating manufacturing can materially affect an existing regulatory approval because the authorised site, premises, equipment, processes, quality controls, and assessment history may change. The licence holder should determine the applicable approval, amendment, inspection, or other regulatory procedure before relocation. Production should not simply transfer to a new site without regulatory assessment.

10. Can production begin while the licence application remains pending?

Submitting an application does not itself authorise commercial manufacture of a regulated medical device. The applicant should obtain the manufacturing permission required for the relevant device and arrangement before commencing activities that legally require approval. Development, testing, or evaluation activities may follow separate regulatory provisions depending on their nature and purpose.
